Today was a melancholic day, after showering, I decided I wanted to walk where my legs take me.
So I put on my coat and I walked. And where did my legs take me?
My usual spot when I feel like being alone. It is quite a journey.
First, I go through a street lined with little houses, and take a right towards a forest road.
Walk on the bridge overlooking a creek.
And a little further through private property, step over the barbed wire; and there it is! A fallen log over the creek.
First snow had fallen; so there were plenty of deer tracks along the way.
The log itself had a few fox footprints as well, I'm curious about their routine.
The pitter-patter of their little paws as they scurry to be free.
I hope to be that one day, away from an 8-5, worries, just walking.
I guess foxes don't have it easy, either, but I'd say they're blessed with the lack of knowledge about certain parts of the world.

I had brought my journal with me and wrote letters to Audrey, a good friend of mine.
I got too cold to continue writing to others, so I sat for a while and appreciated the view.
It had reminded me of a specific scene from Dead Poets Society, where Todd ran through the snow, screaming Neil's name.
That acting felt so raw that it makes my heart ache.
What are we, if not human? If not made for art?
Neil died after humanity was denied to him.
He knelt for his father his whole life, and when he chased his true nature, he perished.
It proves that we would rather be dead than caged.
Or not, it's "just a movie" after all.

I laid in the snow, too.
My coat was covered in snow and so was my hair
. And even though I was cold, I was content to be there for a while.

I did walk back, eventually.
At home I brewed a lovely spruce tea from needles I collected previously.
It was delicious, slightly citrussy.
I hope to pair it with pinecone honey one day, but I haven't figured out how to make that just yet.

Enjoy the pictures from my little trip!
